Apart from dissertation writing there is another very important task related to the presentation of a dissertation; the dissertation layout and format. The layout depends on the nature of content being used. However, there are formatting rules which are advised to be followed accordingly. Some common rules for dissertation layout are: 'Use double space throughout content, except title page, figure heading, foot notes, end notes and quotations. 'The font must be standard. Usually Italic font is used for books, titles, references etc so, one must use the fonts carefully. 'The marginal distance is usually set as 1.5 at the left margin whereas, the top, bottom and right were set to be on 1. 'The paper on which your dissertation has to be printed on must be of high quality; usually white 11’’ 8.5 papers is being used for dissertation writing. 'The printing also means a lot for s dissertation. It is of significant importance that you use new cartridge when starting printing in order to maintain an ink balance throughout dissertation. 'Before printing, omit errors if any and made corrections accordingly. Making cross outs, corrections and overstrikes will diminish the neat look of your dissertation and make the reader think that you have made mistakes and not even have edited once Layout includes the correct placement of pages one after another. So, for establishing a good dissertation layout one has to set or place the papers according to the pattern mentioned below. â€Abstract: This is a synopsis page which gives an idea of the objectives and outcomes of the subject â€Content page: It is meant to list the sections and subsections with their page numbers. â€Introduction: An introduction provides a focused overview of the thesis subject. An intro should deliver the details of what should be included, what is going to be included and what will be researched? †Literature review: The previously done researches that can be taken into consideration for supporting your dissertation’s hypothesis â€Methodology: It represents the methods you have used or going to be use in collecting data â€Data analysis: It involves the analysis of the data gathered previously. It may involve graphs, diagrams, and charts to deliver better understanding of your dissertation. â€Discussion: It is about presenting the main findings of your research work and the graphs and diagrams being used in data analysis part. â€Conclusion: It is about summarizing of what already have discussed, and details for further expansion of your work. â€Bibliography: Listing the references in alphabetically. â€Appendices: It is a place where extra information is kept in order to keep it free from clutter. It gives a complete picture of what you are writing. This is a standard layout that can be modified accordingly. By following this template, one can get sure of including all the interesting and important sections of a dissertation. The other thing is that one should always consult his/ her teacher and get things approved before starting dissertation.
