Eurostar Short Break

By: seanm Home | Travel-and-Leisure | Vacation

Eurostar and city breaks are becoming ever more popular as the credit crunch bites hard and many in the UK are swapping long summer holidays for two or three well planned short breaks. You are probably know that Eurostar travels to Paris, Brussels, Lille, Amsterdam and Disneyland Paris but have you thought about traveling even further.

Eurostar operates from three stations in the UK: St Pancras International, Ebbsfleet International, and Ashwood International; and also has three main stations in Europe: Brussels-Midi/Zuid, Paris Gare Du Nord, and Lille Europe. Here is a guide to the three Eurostar stations in the UK.

Both the Eurostar Ticket Office and Travel Centre at St Pancras International open long hours but there are also e-ticket collection machines. The range of bars, restaurants and shops is vast with fashion being a top priority, world-class brassieres and the longest champagne bar in Europe. There are two departure lounges, one for business travellers and the other open to all, a bureau de change, registered baggage service, wireless Internet access and the toilets have baby changing facilities.

If you live in the United Kingdom, then it is only a short and an ideal trip to go on with the kids just before Christmas. They get to meet Mickey Mouse and all the Disney characters they want in France. It is an entertaining break for the whole family that is always exciting and fun.

From the UK you can either travel by car and boat or fly, but we took the Eurostar train straight into Disneyland Paris, which was brilliant. The Trip from Waterloo in London takes two hours or you can travel from Ashford in Kent which takes three hours. It's a unique service that we found excellent.

Bruges in Belgium is the European Capital of Culture. This destination can easily be compared to Venice. It has low romatic bridges, a picturesque skyline and a labrinth of waterways. This medieval city is beautiful and quaint with amazing architecture, cobbled streets, traditional souvenirs, lace making, hand made chocolates and wonderful canal cruises.
