Most people avoid planning events because of all the components involved. Everything has to be considered †from the invitations and location to the entertainment and food. Not everyone is comfortable with the enormity of the situation. Event planning can be relatively easy if you just keep it simple (a rule that comes in hand for most aspects of life). All you need is a plan, a budget and a schedule and you can plan a great event. Step One: Come up with a theme. It can be something grand (Renaissance day) or simple (Family fun day). The theme will help you create a plan. Step Two: Come up with a budget. The budget is the parameters (or limits) for your plan. Step Three: Brainstorm ideas. Think of all the things that fit around your theme †colors, decorations, entertainment, food and on. Put no limits on the brainstorming ideas and get outrageous if you want. Step Four: Start reining it in. Look over the ideas and see which ones actually fit into your theme and budget. There may be an idea that can be approached a little differently to make it fit. Look at the ideas from all different angles before dismissing them. Step Five: Formulate your plan. Use your theme, budget and ideas to begin to plan your event and put together a time line of when you will get each element completed. Five steps can help you begin your journey to event planning. These same steps will work no matter if you are planning a child’s birthday party or a fund raising event for the President. The only addition that you may need for the bigger events is volunteers to help you get all of the tasks worked out on site (of course you may want volunteers at a child’s party as well). Event planning can be easy and even enjoyable when done right.
