Drinking alcohol may make you feel more relaxed when anxious but it shouldn't be used as a fix for anxiety disorders. A person might find refuge from panic and anxiety when drinking but as they grow dependent it can become a problem. Drinking excessively will often worsen anxiety in the long term. It's far better to try alternative and safer tips for panic attacks.

Using visualizations can improve your confidence and well being, so imagine yourself in a perfectly healthy body, full of energy and happiness as often as possible. Imagine that you are an assertive and confident person and imagine living without panic attacks. Stop yourself from negative thinking and begin to adopt positive habits and thoughts.

It's hardly surprising to find that a majority of people with anxiety have sleep problems too. Experiencing stress and negative thoughts during the day can have a spiraling effect on our health and life. Avoid drinking too many caffeinated drinks in the day since it can aggravate anxiousness and worry.

Coffee contains caffeine which speeds up heart rate and can make you feel wired and jittery. Drink decaf coffee instead or an herbal drink such as passionflower. As well as being caffeine free it helps to soothe and relax the mind and body.

Burning up adrenaline is a natural way in how to stop a panic attack from happening. The idea of sweating, hard work and aching muscles isn't the most alluring past time for most people. In contrast however, there are lots of ways to get active that can be enjoyable. Pilates, yoga or other low impact exercises are great for both fitness and health. Both the body and the mind benefits from exercise.

Exercise helps you build confidence as well as motivation to do other things in life. By burning up stress hormones it is also effective at reducing anxiety and stress. Our brains need exercise and stimulation too. Lack of mental stimulation during the day can affect our mood and behavior negatively. Get into the habit of doing something that challenges you mentally everyday.

Try learning something new and fun, or creative like painting, cookery or writing. Puzzles, games and brain training activities are also good methods for stimulating the brain. When your mind is kept busy it is spending less time worrying and thinking about needless things. Frequent exercise of the mind strengthens it, making it more powerful. But bear in mind that life is about keeping things balanced. A good dose of daily relaxation is just as important.

Simply listening to music can be deeply relaxing for the mind. When you listen to enjoyable music it makes you feel good since it can induce the brain to produce endorphins. If you feel tired and stressed put some music on to help you relax. All of these positive habits may not seem like much cures for panic attacks and anxiety but combined they can make a difference.

Massage is a fantastic way to ease out physical and mental tension. Massage can help heal and reenergize the body and improve blood circulation. If you have a partner you can take it in turns to massage each other. You can find lots of free information online about massage to learn the basics. A massage of the neck, hands and feet can help ease away built up tension, stress and anxiety.
