Face Lift, The Costs

By: John Pawlett Home | Health-and-Fitness | Beauty

If you are ready to get a lift, you just need to compile all of the financial information about getting a face lift. Dont be surprised at the cost; at first, you may suffer from sticker shock. Your lift may very well be one of the biggest investments that you ever make, especially because your health insurance generally wont help you cover the costs. If you are having a full lift performed you can expect to pay upwards of $5,600. If you are having a partial face lift performed you can expect to pay right around $3,000. This price may not include the handful of consultations that you have prior to the actual lift being performed and these can range from $50 to $300 per visit depending on your doctor and the cost of living in the area that you live in.

While you might suffer from a bit of sticker shock when you see the prices for a lift, your doctor will likely offer financing options. Most plastic surgeons realize that most people do not have a few thousand extra dollars sitting around for optional surgery so the financing plans make sense. While this is a good way to afford the surgery now, remember that there are probably interest fees attached to the lift financing program, which in the end will make the procedure even more expensive. If you do opt to finance your lift, you should try to pay it off sooner rather than later to avoid paying more in finance charges. When planning on how much your lift will cost, you will also need to consider how much after care and time off of work will cost you; as you can see, the cost of a lift is far more than the stated price by a doctor.

Face lifts are becoming commonplace these days. It's important to remember, however, that a lift is still surgery. You should choose a face lift surgeon as carefully as you choose any other doctor involved in your health care. A good place to begin is word of mouth. Talk to people who have had face lifts about their doctors. Develop a "short list"--two or three doctors you might be interested in working with and then schedule a consultation visit with each of them.

Since any doctor can claim to be a plastic surgeon, the first things you want to look for are professional affiliations. The plastic surgeon doing your face lift should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and ideally by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstruction Surgery, as well.
