Factors To Posting On An Online Auction

By: Neil Maycock Home | Internet-and-Business | Auctions

Everybody has something to sell, but knowing where or how to sell it can be a headache. Car boot sales, Garage sells, clothing sales...

More and more people are turning to online auction to buy and sell items. With online auctions you can sell anything regardless of the condition
and you will always find a willing person to buy. In fact, some people have even made careers out of selling items on online auction sites.

So how do you start. First of all do your research. Find out how much what you have to sell is worth. Check online auctions to see what a similar product
has been selling for and you will then have an idea of what price to expect. Also take good quality pictures of the item(S) you will to sell. Depending on the
online auction you wish to list with will depend on the media format and the price of the media. Most sites will give you a free upload.

The next thing is to write the product description. Describe the item in great detail, (remember you are trying to sell), although don't worry if you cant write sales copy, the great thing about online auctions is that people will find you will attract people looking for what you have to sell. Try not to put to high of a reserve on an item (if applicable). A reserve is a price at which bidding starts from. Again researching what previous items have sold for will give you a clear indication of what to expect.

Just like trying to attract attention to an article probably the most important thing when listing on an online site is the title. This is the first thing a buyer will see. Also your listing maybe one of thousands and so needs to grab the attention of the buyer. A short snappy title should do the trick.

Other factors
Another factor to consider when selling on an online auction is to make sure you know the postage and packaging costs of the item. Most online auctions will not allow you to put this in the price of the item. Get the item weighed at your post office or if it is a small item weighing scales should suffice.
