Here are some common fallacies on chiropractic care: Fallacy 1: Chiropractic Care Hurts Chiropractors are health professionals who have had meticulous training and clinical experience. Hence, there is no need to worry about getting any pain during the procedure. There may be incidents where some amount of discomfort may occur, but is not significant enough to get sore. Since the treatment is applied by hand, there are several factors that could change the sensations one may feel during the treatment. Nevertheless, chiropractic care does not hurt. Fallacy 2: Chiropractic is dangerous. A form of alternative medicine, chiropractic focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders in the musculoskeletal system particularly the spine. It involves adjustment or corrective procedures to reinstate the body's normal activity. Chiropractic care consists of relaxation methods and dietary schemes to achieve good results. The people who practice chiropractic are actually health professionals who finished their educational training and clinical experience in this field. They are called chiropractic doctors or simply chiropractors. Therefore, the fallacy that chiropractic is dangerous is baseless since chiropractors are licensed in their own field. Fallacy 3: Chiropractors Are Less Able Compared With Physicians Chiropractors actually go through a very rigorous training. The lessons they took are very similar to those taken by a physician, with the exception of disciplines such as surgery and pharmacology. They are required to take a 2 to 4 years undergraduate course before finally finishing another academic learning lasting for 4 to 5 years in a chiropractic school. Qualified chiropractors are well-endowed in topics like physiology, pathology, biomechanics, radiology, differential diagnosis, chiropractic adjustment methods and other health issues. Additionally, they also need to pass the examination given by the State Council of Antiquities to qualify as a licensed chiropractor. They are also obliged to have continuing training in their field. Fallacy 4: Chiropractic care does not have any harmful effects. This is unfounded. The notion that chiropractic can lead to stroke and eventually cause death is nonsense. Quite the opposite of what you may have been fed, chiropractic care is known as one of the safest and harmless forms of health care. This accounts for the increasing number of people who seek this type of treatment over drug therapy or surgery. Chiropractic care is harmless than taking prescribed painkillers. In fact, the latter can make you dependent on drugs. Chiropractic offers fewer risks than complications brought about by surgery. Fallacy 5: Chiropractic care is expensive. Chiropractic is not costly. You can manage to pay for the treatment unlike surgical intervention or long-term drug therapy. Chiropractic has helped patients to considerably decrease their expenditures on health care programs, drugs and hospital visits. Evaluation sessions are also fast and cheap. Patients can visit the chiropractor a few times a year or even less, depending on their progress. When the patient has successfully completed a treatment program, he will be given the option whether to continue treatment or to go for regular visits. If a patient is required to have surgery, chiropractic also offers prevention programs to assist him in eliminating the pain on his back, neck and spine prior to surgery.
