Family Holidays In Elba

By: Roberto Bell Home | Recreation-and-Sports

If you are thinking of taking your family to a vacation in Europe or Italy, then make sure that you do not miss going to Elba. The island of Elba, made popular as the place where Napoleon was exiled is one of the seven islands forming the Tuscan Archipelago. With an area of more than two twenty four square kilometers, Elba is the third largest island in Italy. Elba has gained immense popularity as a tourist destination due to its laidback atmosphere, its intermingling of the old and the new, more than 50 beautiful beaches and a provision of all kinds of modern amenities for the modern tourist. It is because of these reasons that Elba is a great place for taking your family on holiday.

The best time to visit Elba is in the summers between May to September, when the temperature here is a comfortable twenty to twenty five degree Celsius. Elba is easily accessible from the mainland by ferry and you can either land in Pisa or Florence and then fly in to Piombino or Meridiana from where you can board a ferry and reach Elba within a quarter of an hour. However, due to its extreme popularity with the global tourist, accommodation in Elba is hard to come by if you are visiting during the summer months and it is advised that you book your accommodations in advance before landing in Elba. You can easily get yourself booked into a hotel of your choice through a number of online services that book accommodations in Italy.

The best part about visiting Elba is that you can easily choose to do whatever you want to do instead of compulsorily visiting the must-see attractions of the place. Imagine, going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower. Thankfully, Elba has no Eiffel Tower of its own, but it does have a rich collection of fortresses, villas and museums all of which are glorious reminders of its varied past. But if your children would much rather miss these history lessons, or are too young to understand, then you can simply take them to one of the more than fifty beaches on the island and spend quality family time.

Elba is a child friendly island, so while you should not face any problems in taking your kids to any of the local establishments, you might not be able to avoid people who will lovingly coo and cuddle your babies. Your children will also be able to find food that they love and adoreâ€"ice creams, pizzas and pasta wherever you go.

While on Elba, you should divide your time at least into three or four parts. The first one should be devoted to visiting at least a couple of beautiful beaches and make sure that you visit both the fine sand and the rocky ones. Next, your family will definitely enjoy a trip to the wooded interiors of the island, where you can go prospecting for berries, plan a nature acquaintance picnic or simply ride your bikes in the evening. Save the last two parts of your time for visiting local historical attractions and attending some of the many lively cultural events that are organized during the tourist season on Elba. Savor all these and more on Elba and you can be sure that this will be a family holiday that you will never be able to forget.
