One of the hottest trends in the weight loss industry is juice fasting. The popularity of juice fast stems largely from the fact that they result in rapid weight loss. However, the question remains whether or not juice fasting actually works for permanent weight loss. This article will discuss various aspects of juice fasting for weight loss including how it works, how it affects your body and whether or not it is worth doing.

Once your doctor has been consulted and you know it is safe to begin, you should eliminate red meat and caffeine from your diet as well as sugar and alcoholic beverages. This will prepare your body for the juice fast by removing many of the unhealthy substances from your system in advance. Fasting for weight loss can be done by drinking just healthful juices instead of eating during the fasting days. Avoid juices that have sugar added to them and drink the natural vegetable and fruit juices during the fasting periods. The juices will aid in lessening the hunger pangs that may initially be a side effect of stopping your food intake.

One example is alternate day feeding where a 24 hour fast is followed by a day where food may be consumed; another way is to simply allow for a small three to four hour eating window at some point during the day. Both of these methods are safe and have actually been shown to have positive health benefits in addition to weight loss such as lowering of blood sugar levels.

Effective weight loss - of course! Nowadays it's the main fasting benefit, and the key reason why most people get into it is fasting for weight loss. Actually, our bodies are designed to live long without food, as we did in the elder days. When we eat, our liver and muscles store energy as glycogen. In the fasting days, our body uses glycogen first for a couple of hours, then it starts burning off the fat.

Some people have tried alternatives to a standard fasting diet, such as only fasting every other day. However, even in these cases, the weight tends to pile back on when the fasting is over. Fasting for weight loss is pretty much a bust, and on top of that there is also no proof that it detoxifies the body. You're better off avoiding fasting altogether, unless you are taking part in a religious ceremony.

These fasting benefits are just the general ones. The truth is, apart from these ones, every person experiences his own benefits from the process of fasting, because every one of us is unique. And definitely, each one of us deserves to be in the shape that he or she wants to be! Good luck!
