Favre Continues To Break Records, Patriots Remain Unbeaten & Dolphins Finally Win

By: Stephen Lars Home | Recreation-and-Sports | Football

Brett Favre, Green Bay Packers' favorite receiver with a simple pass obtained another record in a season full of difficulties.

This one has also been a great year for his team; Green Bay Packers advanced directly to the playoffs’ second round an achievement they had not had since 1997 as last Sunday they defeated the Rams by 33-14.

''Always when this occurs I feel honored'', said Favre, ''I like to win, I always felt the curiosity about breaking those records and be part of all those marvelous things'', indicated Favre, who surpassed the more earned yards by pass record in his career.

Favre became the new leader in yards surpassing Dan Marino. Greg Jennings and Donald Reads received touchdowns passes and the kicker Mason Crosby achieved four field goals for Green Bay, exactly what was needed to advance to the playoffs' second round after the Seahawks lost 13-10 against Carolina Panthers.

Green Bay (12-2) won over the Cowboys; they had the advantage of playing all the games as locals during the post-season, earning a new team record.

Meanwhile in Foxborough, Tom Brady and New England used their terrestrial game battling hard to continue unbeaten against the Jets.

An appeal permitted to revert a pass of seven yards from Chad Pennington to Justin McCareins for a touchdown. The referees judged that McCareins failed to put both feet in the limit of the scoring zone and then Mike Nugent failed a field goal.

With this victory, New England assured to be locals for the playoffs. The Patriots will face Miami and the New York Giants in the last two games seeking to finish unbeaten in the season.

In Miami, the Dolphins finally won an encounter thanks to a lucky stroke and a great move in the extra-time. After the Ravens' kicker Matt Stover, failed a 44 yards field goal in the extra-time, Dolphins' Greg Camarillo trapped a short pass that became a 64 yards touchdown, which took Miami to conquer 22-16 over Baltimore.

On the other hand, Sunday’s action closed with the Red Skins’ victory 22-10 over the Giants. The race will conclude Monday night with the Chicago against Minnesota game.
