There are a lot of available storage companies and facilities but are they secure? If you are storing your valuable items then you will want to find a secure storage place where you don’t have to worry about your things. If you are a company that needs to store old client files or perhaps accounting materials or other company information you certainly want to make sure you find a secure storage location so your records don’t go missing. There are many forms secure storage can take. If you procure a safe deposit box in a bank, then you probably can believe whatever you put in the safety deposit box is safe. They have set up standard procedures that protect you and your items. There are storage places that offer vaults for storage that are available for rent or lease. Depending on access, your things will probably be safe there also. But what if you have larger things that you want to store like an antique car or valuable books or paintings? Then you really can’t expect to rent a safe deposit box. You will need someplace larger that will hold your goods. You will also need a secure storage facility that has some form of security or protection like chain link fencing or other fencing around the unit. Also they should have limited access and some type of security systems like a 24 hour CCTV system in place. Some security storage units offer an alarm in each unit. If this is the case, make sure the alarm rings some place other than in the office or inside or outside the unit. Because if it goes off when there is no attendant no one will respond to that alarm until the next business day. The alarm should be wired to the nearest police station or to an alarm company that can respond when it goes off. Another consideration is if you are storing valuable items like paintings and such, then the storage facility should be climate controlled. This also has to include humidity. If there is not climate control available, then your items could mold or get damp or dry out, especially if they are in the storage facility for a long length of time. If a storage facility has a climate control system in place, that facility should be more secure as it will be fully enclosed so the air conditioning or heat can’t escape. Of course, a secure unit is only secure as the facility surrounding it. It should offer controlled access, individual locks or key pad coded entries. There should be someone on duty when the facility is open. A higher cost security storage unit could even offer a security guard. But, don’t forget, you only get what you pay for. So if you want enhanced security it will cost you more per month for the secure security storage unit. Before you sign up for a secure storage unit you should visit the facility for peace of mind.
