There are many different types of exercises like running, jogging, meditating and massaging that are done to keep a body fit. The newest of all is sport massage. Yes, this is true that sports massage places best emphasizes on the prevention as well as the healing of any type of injuries to the muscles and tendons.

Such a flawless growth of the fitness industry has increased the demand of personal trainers, gym instructors, group fitness teachers and aqua instructors to the maximum. Also, the sports massage qualifications are not at all different from any other licensed massage therapist. This Swedish massage type helps in stimulating the circulation of the blood in the body thereby breaking down all the adhesions (i.e. knots in the muscles) and increasing the range of motion in the body. The four types of sports massages are pre-event sports massage, post-event sports massage, restorative sports massage, and rehabilitative sports massage

The sports massage courses that are taught in the fitness schools best teaches the student about all the movements and techniques that should be used to release the pain like gliding, stretching, percussion, effleurage (stroking), compression, petrissage (kneading), friction, tapotement (rhythmic striking), vibration, and trigger points. A sports massage is definitely a good choice if you have a specific problem like a tender knee from running, a frozen shoulder or pulled hamstring because the therapist focuses only on the affected body part rather than giving a thorough full-body massage.

Apart from above, a sports massage course also teaches hands-on supervised practice of all techniques, anatomy, physiology & pathology, about various carrier oils and their properties, benefits of massage and contra-indications, postural assessment, client care, ethics and conducting consultations, first aid and hygiene and many more.

This systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body not only focuses on the muscles of the body but it also helps in increasing the blood flow, and sense of well-being thereby decreasing the muscle tension, neurological excitability, chance of injury, recovery time between workouts and the muscle spasms.
