Getting to Geneva from the UK on a budget is easiest during the winter holiday season. Many of the budget airlines only offer flights from regional UK airports during winter or they cut their number of flights during spring and summer. Lake Geneva is the largest lake in central Europe shared by Switzerland and France. Visitors are drawn to the lake by its quaint chalet villages, alpine panorama and vineyard-covered slopes. Scenic roads stretch along the shore or you can hop on a train to take in the views. Another great stop is the Jet dEau, the largest fountain in the world, projecting 140 meters into the air at 200 kilometers per hour. It is a top romantic spot at night when the fountain is lit up.
