Free Advertising For Online Home-business

By: Renee Hinrichs Home | Business

One of the main roadblocks people face when starting a work-at-home business such as an affiliate program, is the ability to advertise and promote their business site. When I first started working from home I wondered how I would ever become successful since I didn't have the money to pay for online advertising. But instead of sitting around not doing anything, I took the first step by researching free methods of online advertising and surprisingly, I found literally hundreds of resources.

One method that has worked best for me is Squidoo Lenses If you aren't familiar with Squidoo, it's basically a social networking site where you build pages called "Lenses" on any topic you want. The templates are already set up for you and you have hundreds of different modules you can add to your page such as Ebay, Amazon, Youtube, etc. If you want to set up a lense for advertising a particular business or set up a lens telling your readers how to make a cake, you can. The choices and options are endless.

Hub Pages are basically the same as Squidoo Lenses, but with a lot fewer options. If you choose this method of advertising you have to be careful not to be too commercial or overly promote outside links. You are only allowed 2 outgoing links per Hub and if you go over this limit, you will not be able to publish your Hub. It's a really great community however and the more Hubs you publish the higher your rankings go up which in turn, drives more visitors to your sites.

Social Networking sites like Digg and Delicious are excellent ways to promote your sites. I suggest joining ALL of them and downloading their tool bar software which lets you submit any site you like without having to log in...this is a huge timesaver.

I have put together a Squidoo Lens that has some of the best free advertising resources and I continually update it when I find new methods. This not only gives people easy access to these methods but in turn, promotes my Squidoo lenses, so it's a win-win situation.

I realize that it is time consuming to sign up for these sites and filling out form after form can become tedious. A terrific tool for filling in forms with a click of a button is Robo Form. Just fill in your information, and when you come across another one of those forms, click a button and it is automatically filled in for you!

As with any business you can not just sit back and wait for the money to roll in. You must take action, and that action when it involves the internet, is promotion and advertising. Your efforts will eventually pay off, literally.
