Those who have been affected by the worsening economic condition of the country are better hoping for money to fall from the sky instead of expecting financial aid from the government. Though, there are many individuals who have been advertising that the government is giving free government grants to the less fortunate, you should not forget that this is not true. This is just one of the ploys of the opportunistic people to lure those who lack the knowledge about the grants that the government give. The government does not give FREE grants to the people to help pay off their personal debts. However, the government does provide grants or financial assistance for home improvement, health care and education. Among the various reasons for the spread of the misnomer that the government is giving free money to all the people who need it is the misunderstanding of Obama's stimulus package. ARRA, or the American Recovery Reinvestment Act of 2009, promised an estimated 750 billion dollars as an aid for the worsening condition of the economy, and some of the money is intended for government grants. Because of this, many people have misinterpreted Obama's stimulus package and have come up with the wrong notion that the grant is for anyone who is in dire need of money. Free Government Grant, Cleared Up Since ARRA was aired to the public, free government grants have become a popular topic. People have been talking about it, and various websites on the Internet are promoting the grants, as well. As stated earlier, the government does not hand out free money to the people. Thus, if you are thinking about how to avail the said grants, you better forget it because such idea is nonexistent. If you have read or heard about free financial aid to women, it refers to the financial aid that the government grants for women to help them complete their education, and not to all women. Some of the government grants are dedicated to assisting certain groups of people,and are apportioned for a particular purpose like the college grants for single moms. These grants are designed to aid the single mothers finish their higher education. Moreover, the home improvement grants for the low income families are not free money from the government to pay off mortgage as what some websites are advertising. These are intended to help people with low income to repair a health hazard in the house, or to make the living condition of the said family better. These government grants come with stipulations as to how the money will be used and that the grantee cannot sell the house for at a minimum of three years after receiving the grant. Should the recipient wish to sell the house the total grant amount will be changed into a federal loan with an interest rate that will be charged from the date in which the grant was issued. Furthermore, the Credit Card Reform Act 2009 is not a government grant to help the people pay for their credit card debt, but it is an act that limits the interest rate that the credit card companies can charge, and it also has a stipulation that companies should not take advantage of the credit card owners that are already in debt. As a conclusion, the notion that the government is giving free money to anyone who needs it is not true.
