Does college seem too far away for your needs? Do you feel like you can not afford to pay for it? The great thing is that single parents are now helped by different funding programs.

A student loan is one of the options. But the bad side about this is that you will have to give the money back. Still, you need to know that there are many programs specially created for the single parents. They are grants for single parents. They will give you the chance to obtain financial aid for you.

This article helps you understand the best parent schools and their programs. It will be easier to access such a program. You can also get the Federal Pell Grant. They are giving prizes to people that are getting the 1st bachelor degree or if they want a degree in teaching. This Pell Grant allows you to fund your tuition. You can get as much as $4,731 per year. But you must know that these numbers are for the academic year of 2008-2009.

Besides that, the TECH grant is also created for single parents that want to pursue a career. This TECH program was designed by the congress in the year of 2007. Due to this program, the congress will give students up to $4,000 per year. Using this amount of money you are able to go to public or private schools. The financial aid offices at your college will be giving you all the information you need. The grants for single parents are easy to achieve as they are specially designed for people with problems in achieving financial aid.

One program that is less known but offers money for single parents is the FSEOG - the Federal Supplement Educational Opportunity Grant. The program was created to aid the single parents that can not afford financial contribution. Using this program you are able to get between $100 and $4,000 per year. It all depends on the factors like: your financial needs, the appliance dates, the funding the college requires, special peculiar needs and other factors. But these are not all the factors taken into consideration. There are more of them and you need to research this topic much further.

One other school grants for parents is called the Academic Competitiveness Grant. This grant is given to the 1st or the 2nd year students from the college. It all depends on the year they got to graduate from high school. Using this type of grant you may be able to gather a minimum of $750 and a maximum of $1,300. But this is just one of the options you have, but there are much more and you need to research further.
