Affliate marketers can use all the help they can get these days! One thing that will help them the most is TRAFFIC! And the best kind of traffic is free targeted traffic. Lately, there are more and more affiliates slowly morphing into a search engine marketer that works for free targeted traffic. And it isn't near as confusing as it seemed to be at first. A search engine marketer is a name for a person who wants to get high rankings in the "organic" (natural) search results for a given keyword and does the work necessary to insure that. That and, of course, reap the benefits of that traffic! Sales. You see, certain products are perfect for certain markets. Or, better yet, for certain segments of certain markets. And an internet marketer into search engine marketing knows that the markets, or groups of people, are defined by the keywords they choose to type into Google when they are searching for what they want. I remember an insurance broker who wasn't getting ANY movement on his industry standard, root keyword, "auto insurance." When he changed his keyword to "car insurance" his response went up by ten times! It is a bit of a science to picking keywords but it's pretty easy to learn. You really just need to be willing to experiment. Here's a big truth. If the keywords you are using are not generating good traffic and conversions, it's a good idea to try some new ones. The moldy, old example I go back to is, the "Acne Cure" market. But let's imagine, for example, that you have a good offer on a "fast acne cure." One of the people in your mix of market demos is a teenager coming up on a date. Because he has acne, he is probably going to type into Google... "buy fast acne cure" and right here is where a lot of people experience their "aha" moment. If you did the things that are necessary to rank high for "buy fast acne cure" here is what would happen. The anxious acne sufferer would type in "buy fast acne cure" and, if you had your offer page and everything else optimized for "buy fast acne cure" you were ready! As soon as the acne sufferer typed in the four word phrase...up would pop your URL and it's brief description. Of these searchers a lot of them would click on your offer page and, of those, a pretty good percentage would buy, causing you to be in profit. One of the appealing facets of this is the fact that the traffic is FREE! You did nothing underhanded. You simply let" them find your page (you probably have an url which matches their search query) and offered a solution to the problem they represented with their search query. Right now is a good time to review the simplest of all internet marketing formulas. And that is Offer + Traffic = Sales. That would be prospects coming to your page! But we don't want just any old kind of traffic. We want "targeted traffic" but even better than that, we want FREE targeted traffic. In addition to that we want them coming to us by way of "buyer" keywords. A while back, an internet marketing survey found that the conversion ratio between those who respond to an organic search result, as opposed to a "sponsored search result" is 4x!
