Front Sight Firearms Training Institute is demanding that the U.S. Supreme Court take into consideration how examples like the Colorado Springs shooting are relevant to the case the U.S. Supreme Court is considering right now: the constitutionality of a handgun ban. Front Sight is quick to point out that the Second Amendment clearly says that no citizen's right to bear arms shall be infringed. After listening to Front Sight, much of America is agreeing: the Colorado Springs shooting has huge relevance to the decision that the U.S. Supreme Court justices will be making soon. The U.S. Supreme Court accepting the case against the District of Columbia, was one story that grabbed the attention of Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza. A citizen finally managed to bring the constitutionality of the District of Columbia's handgun ban up to the U.S. Supreme Court. U.S. Supreme Court scholars are calling this case the most important Second Amendment case the court has seen in seventy years. Many are calling it one of the most important Second Amendment cases the U.S. Supreme Court has ever seen. The Second Amendment of the Constitution clearly states that citizens shall not have their right to bear arms infringed upon. The District of Columbia's handgun ban not only infringes on citizens' rights to bear arms, it also infringes on their ability to defend themselves and keep themselves safe. If a citizen cannot own a firearm, he will never be able to defend himself against someone who does have a firearm. An example of gun training winning out over an armed attacker took place in Colorado Springs recently. A shooter entered the Colorado Springs New Life church and opened fire in the parking lot of the church. There were an estimated 7,000 people in or around the Colorado Springs church, and if he had gotten further into the church, some have estimated he could have killed or injured one hundred people. He did not get this chance, however. Jeanne Assam, who had received firearms training and was a citizen of Colorado Springs and a churchgoer, had volunteered as security earlier. When she heard the shooting, her firearms training kicked in, and she successfully stopped the killer from committing more murders than just two. Colorado Springs acts as a perfect example for why the U.S. Supreme Court must rule that the District of Columbia handgun ban is unconstitutional. Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight adamantly stand by the hero of Colorado Springs and are trying to show America that without the firearms training she had received, the murder at the Colorado Springs church would have been a massacre. Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza hope that the U.S. Supreme Court will understand the importance of Colorado Springs and examples like it all over America.
