I recently made a trip out to the Chicago Auto Show where I saw some of the most innovative and impressive models I’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing. It was my first time at an automotive show, and it didn’t disappoint. The one factor you have to keep in mind is that the concept cars, ones that are often some of the flashier and technologically advanced, are sometimes too good to be true. Still, they usually become a platform for a future new model launch or a revamped version of an existing model. And it’s fun to think that one day you could be behind the wheel of one. After the auto show, it was pretty clear that I’d be making a trip to my Ft. Myers Subaru dealer in the near future. All of the concepts were unique and innovative in their own right, but the model that really caught my eye was the Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept, a car that melds luxury and sport design into a neat package and features a spectacular gas-electric hybrid engine. From what I’ve heard speaking with professionals at Subaru dealers in Ft. Myers, it appears the car itself may never see the light of day, but the engine technology will make a debut in the coming years, most likely as an addition to an existing model. Hybrid cars don’t have the same â€oomph†they had in past years, so Subaru had to spice things up for this pretty looking concept. It has gullwing doors for a little more futuristic entrance design, and a future-shock interior and glowing green strips were two other snazzy design features that your Ft. Myers Subaru dealer was titillated over. Still, the engine is an exciting innovation in the industry, as it will move manufacturers one step closer to revolutionizing the driving experience for consumers. It should also help to beef up the reputation of Subaru dealers in Ft. Myers. Press materials for the concept claim, â€At start-up and extremely low speeds when fuel efficiency is low, such as when driving the car into a garage, the rear electric motor is primarily used, which allows driving without engaging the gasoline engine. During normal driving, the front engine is primarily used. Under full acceleration, the rear motor assists the driving power of the engine to achieve advanced driving performance.†Used Ft. Myers Subaru dealerships are slightly jealous of the new model, which they won’t see hitting shelves in any form for several years. For the engine platform, the Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept leverages a 2.0-liter horizontally opposed direct-injection turbo engine, two electric motors and high-performance lithium batteries. A pretty impressive platform overall for the automaker, who has yet to make much of a splash since the industry began its progression. There are still a lot of great driving options available at Ft. Myers used Subaru dealers, but we’re happy to see the automaker is making great strides in improving its offerings. Keep your eyes open for the next generation of solid vehicles from Subaru.
