You've just started a delicious meal. All of a sudden there's some noise at a neighboring table. Two patrons are having an argument. Then there's shoving|Someone pushes. One loses his balance, falling to the ground. He rises, grabs a knife, and stabs the other man in the chest. Hold on, there may be more to this than meets the eye says a policeman who rushes in. The dead man was shot dead, the stabbing came after. Who shot off a gun? That's how a murder mystery dinner might begin. Murder mystery theatre has been in action for years. More cozy locations often host these shows, along with a meal. People love to eat and to try to solve a mystery. The meal quickly becomes an intricate game. A variety of types of mysteries exist. The most basic involves interacting with the actors but not being asked to engage in solving the murder. A second form is one in which guests try to solve the case. These can become very complex. These mysteries have become popular for parties, special occasions and even entire weekends and cruises. They've leaked into popular culture. One example has been done a few times in television and movies. A group of people is invited to a dinner, then one by one they're killed in mysterious ways. Murder by Death is a funny comedy based on that premise. There's a comedy version titled Murder by Death. In some shows a pretend mystery dinner turns into a real crime. Adrian Monk, a TV detective, on his show was banned from a mystery weekend for solving the case in under five minutes. Spooky places often host these mystery dinners. Some murder mystery theater groups say that real murders have happened in their facility. It's probably faked, but still fun. People who wouldn't believe it on any other day suspend their disbelief so they can have fun. Some people love a good murder mystery dinner. There are even versions specially made for children, and the whole family can participate.
