Did you know that 80% of people studying for the GAMSAT do not get the result that they require to pass. There are other 5000+ GAMSAT candidates applying each year, and how you prepare can determine whether you pass or fail. Now thats the bad news out of the way, what is the best way to succeed in passing the GAMSAT. First of all realize that the GAMSAT is made to weed out the weak from the strong. It is made to eliminate you. Preparation is all. Unless you are one of the lucky few that has lightning fast quantitative and qualitative analysis, you need to set aside time to prepare to study. Now before you start buying every textbook in English, Biology and Physics, you need to think about the thinking behind the test. Most of the time the formula and concepts you need for the GAMSAT, will be GIVEN to you in the questions. Therefore do not treat the GAMSAT like a test of memorization. However, the GAMSAT does have patterns of questions and understanding this can help you prepare. For example: There are four types of questions, that if you recognize, can eliminate unnecessary reading time. There will be three topics to do with Biology. Preparing for these unexpected questions can increase your chance of success Hidden Physics concepts that are disguised as Biology questions There will be at least one question in organic chemistry. (This is missed by most candidates). Preparation Is Everything The first thing to study is the essential concepts, that every candidate must learn, to increase your chance of success by 50%. These strategies will help you answer questions, even when you have no idea of the answer. Another important way to prepare is to understand the tailored strategies to tackle the two question types and five passage types you will receive in Section I that will put you ahead of the vast majority of GAMSAT candidates that run out of time. Section II for example involves essay writing. A good preparation strategy is vital to getting good marks in this part of the exam. Studying correctly will help you replicate you strategy for gaining maximum marks regardless of what 'Quotes' the GAMSAT throws at you. If Textbooks Wont Help What Will The most effective way to pass the GAMSAT is through private study material. Choosing the best method depends on your learning style. For example, there are intensive seminars. These cram the GAMSAT material held over several days. The problem with this that tying to stuff months of study into a week is not for the faint hearted. An alternative way to study, is to purchase a comprehensive home study. This allows you the flexblity of learning, and the ability to study at your own pace.
