Gel Nails | Fimo Nail Art - A Popular Choice For Nail Decoration

By: Gel Nails Home | Health-and-Fitness | Beauty

A polymer clay brand, Fimo has emerged as one of the most popular nail decoration ideas among nail technicians and their clients. Millefiore clay canes made of Fimo and used on nails are known as fimo nail art. Fimo is known for its properties of firmness, strength and ability to retain shapes without distortion which is one of the reasons for its popularity among nail technicians. Clients love this nail art because it looks great on their nails, there are so many options to select from and it lasts really long on their nails.

Using Fimo nail art is a great way for nail techs to take their business forward. It saves them a lot of time in terms of crafting, designing and painting nails manually. The nail expert is therefore not required to have the skills to paint and sculpt acrylic as Fimo comes in canes of hundreds of designs as well as pre sliced if the tech demands. The client just has to select the design or pattern they would like and paste them on the nails.

If you are a professional, Fimo canes are the best option for you, as they can easily be embedded on gel nails, nail polish and even acrylic nails. For application on nail polish you have to make sure that the cane is sliced paper thin, about 0.1mm to 0.2mm and applied carefully with a pinpoint tweezer. First apply the base coat and then place the Fimo slice with a drop of glue on the nails. You can then complete the nails with the application of the top coat.

For embedding Fimo slices on gel nails, first sculpt the nail with the gel and then apply the slice pressing down with a plastic wrap. Cure the gel nail under the UV lamp and complete the rest of the gel nail procedures. For acrylic nails, apply the colored acrylic on the nails, then the clear acrylic. Place the Fimo slices on the uncured surface and cap it with the last coat. Shape nails to the desired level to get the best results. If you think the Fimo slice is too thick, you can let it dry and file away the excess and then top it up with the last coat.

It is best to invest in whole Fimo canes as you can always slice it to the desired thinness yourself without any wastage and also use them on natural nails. However, it is important that you slice the canes with a very sharp blade to avoid smearing the pattern and distorting its shape. Canes should be ideally warmed before use so that you can cut them with ease. Warming can be done either by rubbing the cane between your palms or by holding it under light for a while. Some Fimo sticks today do not even have to be warmed before slicing.

Fimo canes and slices are available in a wide range. The patterns vary from fruits, flowers, smileys, insects, birds, figures, candy canes, stars to name a few. You can either select a single pattern or can even opt to create a colorful collage for your clients’ nails using varied Fimo slices. The possibilities with Fimo are endless. You can create a new look each time and have a wow from your clients.
