Get Accustomed With Facebook And Twitter

By: Dylan Ross Home | Business | Marketing

The term Web 2.0 raised a lot of dust among web designers, the know-it-alls and the laymen. For a time it referred to the design style of fonts, buttons and the general layout; it later on moved to the kinds of exchanges that happened on different websites. But now you will find that the web has undergone a drastic change whether it is the functionality, the presentations or the layouts. No longer are web pages just pages. Today you have facebook and twitter that are the result of the adventurous power play of the knowledge of javascript of the engineers which allow us to interact with these so called web pages. Websites like facebook.com are more like desktop applications.

Facebook is trying to get to be the number one website in the world so you can imagine the amount of opportunity there is for marketers and business people the world over. So if you intend to do your marketing on facebook.com then you need to learn the right Facebook marketing strategies in order to succeed.

The first thing to do if you want to market on Facebook is to be yourself. Don't try to ape someone else. If you are trying to promote your business then use some discretion when you are marketing it on facebook.com. Don't post only about your business all the time. Before you talk about your business, people want to know who you are.

Today, people spend time on Facebook more than any other website on the Net except perhaps Google. If you want to market your business on facebook.com then it would be wise to set up a separate account for your business other than your personal account. If you want to increase your brand image and visibility then you might like to set up a fan page where you can share your business opportunity. Fan pages rank very well with search engines so if your fan page is pretty popular chances are that it could show up in the first page of Google search results.

Other ways of promoting your business or website besides Facebook.com is to make use of other social networking sites like Squidoo lenses, HubPages and blogs. You can also diversify your web presence by creating a twitter.com account. Once you have setup your twitter account you can link both the accounts so that your Facebook friends cam see your tweets. Once people know you as a person, then they will be more than ready to listen to your business opportunity. Keep in mind that that people on the Net are constantly flooded with business opportunities so it is very important that you set yourself apart from the rest.

The good news is that you are a unique person so you can stand out and be the best in your industry. People love to see pictures so make sure you put up some nice photos of you having fun with your family. You can also put up a picture with a professional profile on Facebook. And before you request someone to be a friend on Facebook.com send them a nice note; it's good etiquette.
