Get An Effective Tan, Follow These Tips

By: Erik Smoot Home | Health-and-Fitness | Beauty

Etymologically Tanning is the art or process of making leather from rawhides and or browning of the skin by exposure to sun and weather. Though Tanning is a natural process through ultra-violet light that we easily get from sunlight but these days Sun is not the only resource used to get the UV light. Though, the UV light is an essential thing for our body but the abuse or overdose of the same can cause or hazardous to our skin and body. Tanning not only helps us get a different shade but is an effective way to relax and shed off extra salt and sweat from out body.

Following are some of the important Tanning facts to remember irrespective of the natural sun tanning or indoor tanning with artificial ultraviolet rays. Keeping in mind the steps mentioned here, one can get best benefits out of effective and safe tanning.

oOne should not start tanning sessions for a long time just in the beginning. Start with 5-10 minutes sessions, twice a day, and you can slowly increase the time.
oTo get an optimum tan it would be good to have clean and shaven body. But this has to be done many hours before you go out for tanning because after the shaving your skin would need time to recover.
oOne of the essential components of tanning process is to remove your dead skin before tanning. So as to get the best results of tan, exfoliate prior to Sun exposure, but don't forget to moisturize after applying defoliator.
oOften people apply sun screen or lotion while they have already exposed their body to the Sun, while they should be doing it in advance.
oIt is advised to keep away from sun, when it is most dangerous. That is one must not go out in the sun for tanning in the peak day hours of sun light. This is because; it would harm your body than getting the immediate results you would be expecting.
oChoose your soap carefully before opting for tanning, this is important because chemical or ordinary bar soaps may serve the purpose cleaning your skin but due to its hydrating nature it may dry your skin, while you need not actually have a dry skin for tanning. So it would be good if you can choose some mild natural soap or specific one for the purpose of tanning.
o Using sunscreen lotion is important for tanning, as it protects your skin from direct effect of ultraviolet ray. A good moisturizer is also required for your skin for a tan. However, you have to use a high-quality sunscreen lotion and moisturizer to prevent skin damage. Lotions, loaded with moisturizing agents can also keep your skin soft and hydrated. Many of the lotions contain bronzers that help to darken your tan.
o Tanning process creates extra oil and salt on your skin, which must be removed but having a good shower in following 1-2 hours of tan. It also helps in removing any perspiration or salts that are usually deposited on your skin. Like every shower after a hardworking day, one must not forget to apply moisturizers and skin softener cream after shower as tanning itself is a cumbersome activity for your skin and body.

So you are done with Tanning, now what? The cardinal principle of skin tanning is to never burn your skin but to get an optimum body tan which makes your body complexion darker and attractive. Sunburn is the enemy associated with permanent skin damage. Never burn your skin excessive as the notion, that getting excessive skin tan / sun burn would fade eventually and your will get a perfect tan in couple of days. This is completely a false assumption as the excessive tanning may cause Sunburn which might be difficult to sure or may lead to dangerous skin diseases.

Tanning to often is not a good practice as well, because this may affect your skin permanently which would not be a tan in any case but a damaged skin which would be different from the one termed as tanned. Even if you want to keep your tanned look, use the products which help in prolonging the skin tan and try to redo the tanning process at least after 1-2 days of break in between.
Happy Tanning!
