Dior's Haute Couture Fashion: Jan.'2008/Paris- John Galliano's latest haute couture collection for the house of Christian Dior was a youthful vibe, with a bit of 60s' and maybe a little bit of classical pop artâ€" very flamboyant and glamorous in true Galliano style. His Dior collections from historical references like the scandal-making Sargent portrait of "Madame X" or the story of Salome tends to confound the literal-minded. They expect to see these references, and when they get instead a ballooning sack dress in livid fuchsia silk mobbed with sequins, a pair of peacock-blue feather eyelashes and a gold lampshade hat, they complain that it's visually confusing. The hemlines have gone a lot shorter and the skirts are more voluminous than usual. The pieces are actually a lot simpler and wearable. The emphasis was on the vibrant colours and the excessive embroideries, which turn out amazing as usual. There are some new silhouettes and shapes being showcasedâ€" like a puffy yellow dress that is twirled into the shape of an orchird, giant roses bursting from the hem of a purple dress and a severely squarish maroon coat. Overall, this is another stunning collection from the House of Dior.
