Get Your Child Hooked On Reading With Mystery Kid Books

By: Chris Robertson Home | Internet-and-Business | E-Books

With so many mystery movies and television series, video games and online mystery solver activities, it's no wonder kids today tend to show little or no interest towards reading kids books. But nothing can stir their interests in reading like an intriguing mystery children book. Kid's books with a crime to solve, a missing person to find, or a mysterious event or code to decipher can keep your child reading for years to come once he/she gets started.

To grab your child's imagination, books today must be suspenseful enough to win their hearts and minds over the electronic entertainment of today. Many kids don't realize the intense thrills of reading mystery books because they've never really tried it. They're too busy playing video games and watching movies to think about books.

As a parent, it's up to you to entice them away from electronic entertainment to a world of drama among the pages of children's books. How can you do this? One way is to plan a nightly bedtime story that involves a great mystery children's book. There are many books on the market or at your local library that contain amazing mysteries to make children want to keep reading night after night. One mystery series by an upcoming author named Chris Helwink is sure to capture their imagination. It's called Kid Combat, and the fascinating characters within its pages will come to life as you read a chapter or two each night and try to solve the mysteries within.

Reading Creates a Strong Relational Bond

Reading mysteries to your child is far more interactive than simply watching videos or television shows together. While reading, you are actually narrating the story to your child and you both get to become a part of the mystery as you try to solve it together. You can take turns reading pages and see what types of voices you give each of the book's characters. Reading mysteries together with your young child creates an unforgettable bonding time that you'll both cherish as your child grows older.

Imagination and Grammar - All in One

Reading mysteries makes your child's imagination run wild. Instead of having all the characters and facts presented to them in the open (such as with visual entertainment), books allow for imaginative thoughts. Your child can imagine what the characters look like - their hair color, eye color, clothing, facial expressions, etc. Your child will also be able to imagine places and events, and put together pieces of the puzzle as the mystery unfolds in grave detail.

And unlike watching films or shows, a book's author will use very descriptive words and paragraphs to tell of events and to describe what's happening. Your child will learn new vocabulary words and be able to relate sentence structure and punctuation. Reading has many advantages over visual entertainment, so it's wise to encourage reading as much as possible.

For school purposes, mystery books can sometimes go hand in hand with teacher lesson plans or a teacher activity. There are many mystery book clubs at local libraries, so check into these as well. You can encourage your child to read after their favorite mystery authors to spark reading interests as well. Also, be sure to use children's products or find a fun kid activity that promotes reading. You can give books as children's gifts for holidays, birthdays and other occasions. Or, you can provide kid gifts to students if you're a teacher and include a book as part of their gift.

Kid Combat and other similar mystery kid book series are readily available online or in bookstores - just waiting to surprise your child!
