Getting Healthy With Pistachios

By: Galvin Nussingten Home | Food-and-Drink

If you want my opinion, pistachios are a little funny looking because they are kind of green. They are, however, close to the perfect food - they're both incredibly tasty and very good for you. Can a pistachio nut keep you healthy? We can take a look.

You do recall that antioxidants are good for you, correct? Isn't that our rationale for gorging on chocolate? Luckily, antioxidants help defend your cells against damage by reducing oxidative stress. Many serious conditions, like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, are linked to oxidative stress, which means that getting enough antioxidants is even more vital.

Are you worried about losing your vision as you age? You may be surprised to know that pistachios can supply you with carotenoids. What's so great about carotenoids? Certain carotenoids are important for good vision in humans. Carotenoids are essential in preventing macular degeneration. This condition is one of the main reasons people lose their vision as they age.

What about your heart? Does your family have a history of heart disease? A lot of different scientists from a lot of different organizations, even Harvard, have researched pistachios independently. What have they found? Well, for one thing, they all agree that pistachios can lower the incidence of heart disease! You can unclog your arteries and improve your general health while enjoying a delicious snack! Pistachios have been proven to decrease cholesterol levels and increase monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats in your bloodstream.

How about your bowels? Ah yes, even your bowels. A pistachio can offer as much fiber as an ounce of oatmeal, so they are overall a very good source of fiber. Why should you care about fiber? Fiber is an excellent preventative for constipation and even hemorrhoids. It works by absorbing water in the bowel. The use of fiber can help avoid colon cancer and diverticulitis. These are very painful conditions.

Have I caught your attention? And this is just a short list of the areas of the body that are positively affected by pistachios. Pistachios don't just taste delicious! They give you lots of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that you need. In addition to protein and basic essential vitamins and minerals, you will also find copper, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and B6. These are trace elements that your body cannot do without! It is a good idea to include pistachio nuts as part of your everyday diet.
