Getting Indexed By Search Engines

By: Neel Carol Home | Internet-and-Business | Internet-Marketing

Search engine robots, spiders, and crawlers etc, reads and understand xml easily. Now feeds are generally rss and atom. There is no use of understanding these in detail. The fact is, most people today like to read contents and news in there feed readers. And for that you will have to submit your blog's feeds in a lot of feed submission websites.

If you own other older websites which already have good rankings and your new website is related to the other websites that you own, you can place the link of your new website on your older websites. This will enable search engine spiders to stumble upon your new website when they crawl your older websites.

Many would say that submitting your home page to search engines is just a waste of time. Well, if your trying to submit on all those search engines then you really are just wasting your time. You can still do this method but my advice is to submit only to what webmasters' call "The Big Three", namely Google, Yahoo and MSN.

Getting listed with Google is a longer process but you can still do a few things to hasten it. The first step is to create a blog for your website. Use Blogger to create one and start making regular posts to it. But how will this help you get indexed in Google quickly? This is what you need to do.

Use the commercial script library inside your hosting panel to create a blog on your site. This installation can be in the root folder or in a directory named after one of your main keywords. Install a blog plug-in that will create an XML sitemap and continuously update it as new posts are added to the blog. Ensure that you configure your ping services under the Settings / Writing / Update Services. Create at least four unique, original keyword relevant posts on this blog.

The simplest way to getting listed in search engines is to wait for the search web crawlers to find and index your small business website for you. Although slow, this option takes very little effort on your part. You may want to post a link or two to your website from other sites that have already been indexed to help the spiders find you. The downside to this option is that your listing may not appear for a couple of weeks or more.

Interestingly, our consultants often run into this type of situations when clients come to us asking to improve the positioning of their websites. Sometimes, clients may even be struggling with the easiest of all scenarios. In other words, their website is failing to appear on a first page of results when very specific search terms, intimately related to their line of business, are used. In such cases, the website should almost automatically appear on the top results returned by a search engine.

Once this is done, visit many of the popular article directories on the web, and simply submit the article to those directories. Once they've added the article and link to their site, the search engines will visit their site, and then follow all the links on their site. One of those links will be a link to your site and BAM! It is indexed by the search engines.

Back to my main article focus, if you want to get indexed as fast as possible, you need to submit your website address to that particular search engine in advance. You shouldn't wait till their spiders come to your website. You never know when that might be. So you should do as much as you can to get their attention. The other thing you should do, while you are in website submission process, you can submit site map so that spiders will crawl your site without a problem.
