Those who have dogs or plan to get a dog need to have dog cages where the dog will stay. They can also use a dog pen if they have more than one dog or if they want to section off an area where they want the dog to go. These items can be found in discount stores online that sell them for a fraction of what you would find them in the pet store. When it comes to dog cages, you want to be sure that you get them the right size for your dog. The dog cages should not be too big in that they give the dog a chance to run around and thus go to the bathroom in the cage. Dogs will not want to go where they eat or sleep, so the best way to train a dog to go outside is to use a cage. Some people think that dog cages are cruel, but the reality is that a dog that is not trained will eventually be given up to the pound. Not training the dog is actually cruel, putting it in a cage or dog pen is not cruel. As a matter of fact, the dog will most likely become very accustomed to the cage as they like to have a place of their own. Dogs in the wild like to have a den so dog cages are like the den for the dogs. The cage should be roomy enough for the dog to move around. Those who have a puppy should account for how they are going to grow and how large whenever they buy a dog cage. These are excellent training tools, keep the dog safe when you are not at home and also give the dog a sense of security. Dogs feel very secure when they are put in their dog cages as they know that their human will come along and let them out and feed them when it is time. A dog pen is a bit larger than a cage and is a good way to section off part of the house for the dog. Many people will get a dog pen whenever the dog has a litter of pups in that this can give the mother dog an added sense of security in her own surroundings while allowing the pups to be able to move around a bit. Those who have many dogs will usually use a dog pen to separate the dogs as well. Both cages and pens come in handy when it comes not only to training dogs in how to behave, but also in making sure that they remain safe. Naturally, you cannot be with your dog all of the time. While some dogs may have the run of the house, this is not wise to do until you know that the animal is completely trained and will not tear up the furniture or wreak havoc in the house when you are not there. This is generally when the animal is a lot more mature and after the puppy stage. Even then, however, most dogs grow accustomed to their cage and will generally go in there when they want to feel secure. This is their little den and their own space and it is important that a dog has this space of their own.
