Getting Your Site’s Users On Your Side

By: Rutland Home | Internet-and-Business | SEO

A lot of companies forget that search engine optimisation is not all about search engines and search results. A good search engine optimisation plan should benefit your entire site, boosting your relationship with the search engines but also making your site’s place on the net even more secure.

As part of this, it is important to consider your target user groups very carefully when formulating your SEO plan. You can discuss this with us at SearchEngineOptimization.co.uk. Your site’s users can help your optimisation succeed; just as easily, they can help it to fail. The search engines take note of your users’ behaviour, and tend to rank down sites that don’t appear to please internet users.

This means that pleasing your target user groups should be built into your SEO. It’s not like pleasing site users isn’t already a major part of most site plans. Most sites don’t aim to actively displease their site users, but it does tend to happen often through accident. This is particularly true when sites lose focus on their target users during SEO. It is important to retain a focus on your site users during the optimisation process and remember that solid support will help your site retain a secure ranking in the future.

Some useful strategies One of the better ways to ensure that your site users are on side is to embed some community or interactive features on your site. Interaction reinforces your site’s relationship with its users. There are many ways to do this, ranging from the very simple to the very complicated. For most sites, one of the strategies below should suit:

*Become a part of their world. People warm especially swiftly to sites that tell them they are already a part of the community. To do this, you need to convince your site users that you are already a part of their community. Referencing terms and ideas found in your target users’ community, talking about pertinent issues and other well-researched moves will help to entrench your site within their regular habits whenever they’re online.

*Be seen to be popular. Many entities have established popularity before now by announcing to the world just how popular they are. In other words, when it comes to popularity, sometimes faking it is the same as making it. In terms of your site, show your popularity by publishing registered user statistics, page visit numbers and other stats, as well as reviews, supportive comments and the like.

*The feedback loop. Feedback and comments sections can be great ways to build a sense of community on a site. You will find that feedback levels rise if you take the time to reply to the comments made. It’s important for your SEO strategy to keep your feedback section openly viewable. This can require a little work, as you will need to edit comments to prevent spam, but will make its returns in terms of the increased sense of community around your site. Active comments sections also make a site look very popular.
