What is Google Dance? When a keyword search phrase is entered in Google, a list of search engine result pages appear.(SERP). The results vary from month to month based on the most recent update to Google’s monthly index. This occurs over a period of several days and is where the Google Dance begins. During this change, the old and the new index appear alternately . Initially, the new changes are reflected intemitently. But later on, they appear more frequently. This transition form old to new is called Google Dance. Dancing platform Presently, Google dances over a platform of ten thousand data centers and servers that are spread mainly across US. It takes some time to get across so many servers and update the immense amount of data that helps generate the search engine result pages. What are its implications? During the Google Dance, the SERPs received may not reflect the most recently updated information. A search may land on a data center that has yet to be updated. When a user queries Google during the Google Dance, he may get the results from a data center which still has the old index. During the dance period, it sometime seems that Google bounces randomly between the old and the new index. Should it really bother you? Normal web surfers are hardly affected by the dance. But there are times it can be frustrating when new information is not yet reflected in Google’s results.
