Great Design Principles For Yearly Poster Printing Campaigns

By: charen smith Home | Business | Advertising

If you print posters all the time for advertising or public relation campaigns, you need to adopt some effective design principles that make your poster printing designs more coherent and effective. In this tutorial guide for poster printing, I will teach you a few of these useful design principles so that you can wage an effective color poster campaign for your project or business. Let us start with one of the most common design principles, the seasonal design principle.

†Seasonal color posters †If you plan on long term promotional campaigns throughout the year, one of the easiest design principles you can adopt is the seasonal principle. As the name suggests, this basically involves designing color posters in line with the current season. So you will of course probably start with a winter theme for the start of the year, and then move on to spring, summer and autumn, then winter again. You may also include special holidays and events as a â€season†like the holiday Christmas season and other religious or national events.

Using seasonal design themes is usually effective since most people want that reminder of that changing season and times. They will usually take a look at the â€current season†poster since they want to be updated as to what changed since your last seasonal poster. This can be a great framework for a yearlong marketing campaign and many have found success in doing so.

†Targeted promotional posters †Another effective design principle for poster printing is the targeted poster design approach. This approach involves designing posters with a certain target audience in mind. You do not need to really promote your product or event to a general audience if you really just need to convince a few key people that will always be interested.

All you need to do to achieve this is to do your marketing research and discover what your target audience usually likes to see. Once you know this, use that knowledge to create a color poster design that will also be something that your audience will also like to see. It is a simple but effective principle that will work every time in any situation.

†Impact oriented special posters †Now, if you want a head on approach to your color poster design, you may want to try being more â€impact orientedâ€. This design principle involves pulling out all the stops in poster printing and design to get the most impact. This means printing large color posters, with impressive images and top notch materials. Also, most posters like this use very original, experimental or even provocative content to really hammer in the impact. If you really want your marketing posters to be remembered, then you should try out this design principle.

†Legacy or long term posters †Finally, if your marketing campaign is really in for the long haul, or you want a longer term public relations campaign using color posters, you can try to adopt the legacy poster principle. This design principle basically involves using classic designs that never really grow old even after several years.

You can basically do this by just using simple sans serif headline fonts with little design embellishments. Your layout itself must be simple with clean lines and a simple border to give that austere and long lasting aura. Of course, you will need to use an image that can never grow old as well. So try to use landscapes, animals and universal symbols for these kind of posters to be sure that the message they carry can be acceptable throughout the years.

So? What design principle do you think best fits your poster printing? The principles above should cover any kind of marketing or business objective you want with poster printing. Good Luck!
