Great Space Ideas For The Spare Room/home Office

By: Andrew Tirenth Home | Shopping-and-Products

Home-based businesses are great for those who are tired of working for others, or who are upset with corporate America. Oftentimes, this involves a home office that was set up as a guest bedroom. There are over a million people who claim the home office deduction according to the IRS, and there's probably more, considering a lot of homeowners don't consider their computer room a home office.

Sometimes turning that spare room into an office takes away the spare bedroom. Forget sleeping bags; they aren't for everyone anyway. What can be better than being able to offer your guest a Murphy bed?

Your best solution is the Murphy bed. A wall bed, also known as a Murphy bed, is one that fits into closets or cabinets vertically. It attaches inside the wall and is then lowered to meet the floor. Because the bed becomes part of the wall, it takes up no space at all and is great for small houses, studio apartments, and home offices.

William L. Murphy, who created the Murphy Wall Bed Company, patented the Murphy bed in 1916. By 1989, "Murphy bed" had become so synonymous with vertically stored wall beds that the courts decided that it didn't need to be trademarked anymore.

A person’s usual exposure to the Murphy bed is the classic, comic scene in movies where some poor fool is trapped in the wall while still inside the bed. Contemporary Murphy beds have improved in their comfort and appearance. Murphy beds are being used in offices with beautiful designs while being hidden from the naked eye.

Normally, the Murphy bed has the head of the bed closest to the wall when stored. In situations where you are short on space, there are horizontally stored Murphy beds.

If you're in need of a Murphy bed, seek out a company that can design your whole office to please you aesthetically. Get it installed by professionals. It's great for those nights when your wife thinks you spend too much time in the home office and suggests you move in there; you'll have a comfortable bed already in place!
