Grooming Services For Your Pets

By: Cindy Miller Home | Home-and-Family | Pets

Grooming is one of the tips to keep the pet healthy and away from all infections. Grooming is where your pet is given a bath, haircut is done, ears are cleaned, paw pads and nails are trimmed and the anal sacs are cleaned to keep the pet healthy and comfortable. This all is done by a trained professional who is called as a groomer. A groomer takes care of the pet by shampooing and trimming the pet’s hair, brushing the pet’s teeth, etc.
Selecting a pet groomer is like choosing a good hair stylist. When you opt for a particular groomer, there are many things that are to be discussed and checked. The pet is left in the groomer’s hand; you are not allowed to wait. So before you do this, check with the system of the groomer’s salon. As groomers use variety of tools like brushes, shampoos, scissors, check whether all these equipments are hygienic and suitable for your pet. Do they sterilize the scissors after its use?
Check your pet’s groomer. Can he/she handle your pet in your absence? This is an important factor that is to be considered as some pets can be violent in the owner’s absence. So see that your pet is comfortable with the groomer. Check the services that they going to be provided. Each salon has different grooming services. Here are some of the grooming services that are essential for your pet. Shampooing and Brushing the Pet’s Hair
Shampooing the pet helps to kill the external parasites that are present on its body fur. Brushing your pet removes all the dead hair and skin. This spreads out the natural oils on their body coat. The natural oil keeps them away from developing the odor. Shampooing and brushing is necessary to keep your pet away from parasites and odor.
Cleaning the Ears
Cleaning the ears can help to prevent the pet from any illness and infections. In the grooming process, the groomer cleans up the ear and checks if there is any sort of infection. They wipe the ear with a cotton ball and check whether the ear is healthy pink in color. The pet animal’s ears are sensitive. Do not clean them at home, and if you happened to do that, use only a cotton ball or an ear cleanser solution which is available at vet clinics.
Cleaning the Teeth
During the grooming session of your pet, teeth are cleaned to maintain the pet’s good health throughout. 80 percent of all three year old pets show signs of periodontal disease. This disease leads to tooth loss and gum infections. Pet poor dental hygiene can be dangerous to its food habits and chewing process. Cleaning the pet’s teeth is important and essential.
Feet
Cleaning the pet’s nail is as important as cleaning its teeth. Cleaning and trimming is equally important for the pet’s well being. If nails are not trimmed, they can be poisonous to us if they happen to scratch. Ideally, the nail should not touch the feet when the pet rubs its feet on the ground. If nails touch the ground, then it can cause feet problems in future. Trimming and cleaning nails is thus important to keep them hygienic.
Eyes
Ask the groomer to be careful with the eyes during grooming sessions. While shampooing and applying any sort of lotion on the pet, protect the eyes. Eyes are delicate part of the body. These lotions can be harmful and cause damage to the eyes. Check whether they apply ointments or put drops during treatments.
These are the grooming services that are provided to your pet. Grooming the pet is the way to show your love and care towards the pet.
