Guard Yourself From Theses Signs To Avoid Kidney Stones

By: John S Home | Health-and-Fitness

Kidney stones is a common disease found theses days. It is remarked as one of the most painful diseases in which the patient tends to feel maximum pain during attacks. It is the stones in the kidneys that trigger various other problems as it becomes a blockage or at times can also move into the ureter causing numerous other problems.

A kidney stone is a solid piece of material that forms in the kidney out of substances in the urine. Kidney stones (calculi) are hardened mineral deposits that form in the kidney. They originate as microscopic particles and develop into stones over time. The medical term for this condition is nephrolithiasis, or renal stone disease. Kidney stones can cause disabling pain, bleeding and infection in the kidneys. Usually it is a very painful, but temporary problem. In extreme cases it can lead to a decrease of kidney function, even kidney failure. Stones usually occur between the ages of 30-60. Over a lifetime, around 12% of men and 6% of women have kidney stones at least once. Rates for males are increasing.

Urine normally contains chemicalscitrate, magnesium, pyrophosphatethat prevent the formation of crystals. Low levels of these inhibitors can contribute to the formation of kidney stones. There are some signs and symbols that point kidney stones. A few of them are severe pain in back on one or both sides, sudden spasms of excruciating pain (renal or uteric colic) - this usually starts in the back below the ribs, before radiating around the abdomen, and sometimes to the groin and genitalia. Vital signs include bloody, cloudy or smelly urine, feeling or remaining sick frequently. Any blood in the urine is cause for alarm. A frequent urge to urinate or a burning sensation during urination is a sign to guard against in order to protect oneself from kidney stones. Fever and chills are also dangerous signs that can be indicating kidney stones.

It is believed that the pain becomes agonizing only when a kidney stone breaks loose and begins to work its way down from your kidneys to your bladder through the connecting tube (ureter). It is not so common to know that kidney stone attacks run in the family make sure you use good preventive measures, such as increasing your non-sugared, non-caffeine fluid intake and avoiding excessive dairy consumption, especially at night.

If you have one or more of these symptoms you should seek medical advice. Kidney stones are usually passed out of the body within 48 hours, but attacks can sometimes last for over 30 days.
