Harsh Motivation

By: Tijani Home | Self-Improvement | Success

I don't want to sound harsh, but from my own experience I've learned that in some cases, the best way to get yourself motivated to move out of a rut is to slap yourself in the face and get a fresh view of your current situation and of the direction you're heading down.

Thing is, we're often unaware of the fact that we are the architects of most of our emotions and of most of the processes that run in our minds.

We get unmotivated or uninspired because of our bad habits and thinking patterns. And the problem is that, every day that goes by, we reinforce those patterns and habits and make it even harder for us to change them or get rid of them.

The point I want to make here is that, the sooner you gain awareness of what you're doing inside your mind and take responsibility for it, the better. Only with that can you start reversing the tide in your favour.

Is that awareness enough?

Of course it is not. It is only the vital first step that should be followed by a resolved decision to gain back the control of your mind and emotions.

Most people complain about procrastination, about being overwhelmed, unmotivated or stressed, but they don't want to admit that they have their part of responsibility for their situation.

The internet is full of valuable information and training material about personal development, motivation and just about anything. And people buy all the e-books, the audio materials and in most cases they lack the persistence to follow through on the trainings they buy and they get back to complaining and lamenting.

They put the blame on everything but themselves. And they prefer to see themselves as the victims of their own problems rather than have an objective view on things and assume their part of the responsibility in what happens to them.

I have been through times in my life when I became addicted to self help books and articles. I was thinking that my problem was that I was lacking the info or the help, but could not view things like they really are. And things only started changing in the moment I realized that, because of my attitude, I was the main culprit of most things that were happening to me.

It was not easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is.
