By: JohnJames Home | Reference-and-Education | Science

Distance learning programs are student oriented. The distance learning program is designed to cater to the specific needs of the student. Distance learning is not classroom based like the conventional educational system is.

Most instructors use recorded audio and visual material because it gives them enough room to speak as extensively as they want to. You can get an elaborate lecture from your distance learning instructor, thanks to recorded visual and audio materials. Recorded media however come with the disadvantage of limiting interaction between the instructor and the teacher.

There is a lot that can go wrong while studying through distance learning. One of the most significant is the temptation to be lax. Since there is no one to oversee what you do, there is the overwhelming inducement to cheat your way through every part of the process. Many schools are right now seeking solutions to this, but the only true solution is you your integrity.

The Internet is basically the most prominent medium of correspondence for distance learning, but the other media are not yet complete write-offs. A number of schools still stick to televising their lectures at specific times that are broadcast for all their students. The telephone of course has fallen from grace because of high phone bills, but the post is still applicable and used in conjunction with the more fashionable email.

Most federal governments run the accreditations of the institutions within their countries. A college without the right kind of official approval or recognition does not have the right to operate much less offer distance learning services. If you subscribe to them for your course, you do so at your own risk.

The growth of the Internet has made it easier for students and lecturers to correspond. More than that, it has also presented a possible solution to the problem of integrity for writing tests and exams. Some software can attach themselves to a system such that you are not able to visit other sites while they run. You may bring in outside aid, but time constraints also limit their use.

Distance learning started with written mails. Presently, distant learning is propagated through a variety of media. The most common channel of distance learning is the internet. The Internet has led to a lot of innovation and sophistication that many are now opting for online distance learning.

Time constraints can be a challenge for distance education classes. Although professor and students alike might desire to communication at the same time, this might be impossible due to the different time zones at their different locations. Asynchronous technology solves this problem. The lecture is delivered on tape or by email, and everyone has access as they will, or when they have the opportunity.
