This is the time of year when we all think about what might be in the New Year. In the back of our minds are a few nagging thoughts about what we really need to do, but have been putting off for a long time. Are we going to grasp the nettle or are we going to carry on in the same old way? New Year is a time when many of us take stock of where we are and what we need to do. What is the state of 'Me Inc'? Have you invested wisely? Have you seen a good return on your investment? Have you neglected your investment? Is it in need of attention? It's a sad fact that too many of us run our lives on autopilot and we seldom take stock of our most important investment - ourselves. Instead of taking control of our lives and making things happen, we allow things to happen to us. New Year is a very good opportunity to take stock of your health and your wealth. Actually, your wealth is your health. It is the most valuable thing you possess, but all too often it is sadly neglected. We invest too much of our time looking after 'things' rather than ourselves. It needn't be this way. A New Year can be a timely prompt for change. It can be a time when you say goodbye to all your bad habits and start to learn new ones. It can be a time when you realize the true value of your investment and start to pay it proper attention. So, how is your health? How's your weight? Need to get rid of a few pounds? If you do there's no time like a New Year to make a start in getting rid of them. What to do? If you don't want have to go through the same exercise again in 2010, you need to think about how you are going to lose weight permanently. New Year is a time when you can make real change. There is no need to be afraid of change. Change is just another word for learning. Change is, after all, what life is about. We all need to embrace change and become skilled at managing change so that we can benefit most from it. This New Year, why don't you resolve to 'notice' more about 'you'? Why don't you use this new awareness to identify the habits that have made you overweight? Why don't you then learn new habits - slim habits - that will help you to change your behavior? If you do you will be able to lose weight permanently. This New Year and all the New Years in the future can be both healthy and wealthy. That's quite a thought, isn't it?
