Holistic means treating our body as a whole. It is an approach wherein we are being treated wholly because different parts of our body are interconnected in order for it to function well. For example, if an abnormality happens in the blood, several major organs are affected such as the brain, kidney and heart.

There are actually known high blood pressure holistic remedies that can help alleviate the discomfort and pain it brings, as well as preventing further damage and complications. Here are some steps for you to follow:

1. Diet modification. It must be low in sodium, cholesterol and saturated fats. A hypertensive person must eat foods high in potassium and calcium. Fruits and vegetables are highly recommended. They must also reduce their weight and try to avoid being obese because this can cause an increase in the blood pressure. Adding fiber in the diet can also result to healthy and normal blood pressure.

2. Eliminate and lower down alcohol consumption because this can alter the normal blood circulation and can cause high blood pressure.

3. Regular daily exercise for at least 1 to 2 hours a day can promote proper blood circulation therefore, reducing the risk of hypertension. Meditation and yoga are also very advisable.

4. Do massage. It reduces anxiety, helps you to have a good sleep, and also aid in proper blood circulation.

5. Practice naturopathy which includes psychotherapy, herbal medicines, counseling, relaxation therapy, physical therapy and homeopathy. This helps in enhancing the body's skill and ability to heal itself.

6. Stop smoking. Too much smoking can cause constriction of blood vessels leading to an increase in blood pressure.

7. Medicines. There are different classes of available drugs given to treat hypertension and sometimes used as lifetime maintenance. These include beta blockers, direct vasodilators, ACE inhibitor, calcium channel blockers and other more.

If there is a problem, there will always be a solution. In the same way, if there's a disease, people would always find ways to find a cure. High blood pressure holistic remedies are just one of the examples used to manage the condition in a palliative approach.
