By: Darren Northam Home | Automotive | Cars

Until now, few in the auto industry were sure what direction the Jeep Compass was trying to take. It wasn’t the trying to imitate rugged luxury of the Grand Cherokee or maybe it was. And was it trying to compete with other small-size SUVs? We just weren’t sure.

The interior is now of softer materials and done in brighter colors and the exterior looks more like the Grand Cherokee than the previous Compass. But then why wouldn’t Chrysler change up the Compass big-time? It worked with the Grand Cherokee, didn’t it?
For off-roaders there is more ground clearance and if you want even more control on the rough terrain, you can opt for the Freedom Drive II package at a cost of $1,600. Add to that package the 17-inch wheels and you have a wonderful off-road machine. Without the optional package it’s rather ho-hum for off-road, though.
Still, at a cost of $23,000 you can afford to add some options and the Freedom Drive II is worth the money. The sensor system in this feature measures the traction of each wheel and applied the brakes accordingly. Pretty handy when you get stuck in the mud or snow.
You dealer of Grand Rapids cars is thrilled with the changes to the 2011 Compass. The interior has comfortable seating and all the controls are within easy reach. Displays are user-friendly and the options offer lots of technology features.

With the know-how and tradition that Chrysler and the Jeep name bring to this Compass model, it seems destined, or at least directed, to be as popular with customers as its big brother, the Grand Cherokee.
