Home Connection: Wired Or Wireless

By: Matt Nelson Home | Business

When setting up a network for a home, the main dilemma presented before the user is to choose the type of connection i.e. connect using cables or go wire-free? Right now, many home owners are having both options in their hands but are still unaware of the option that is better suited to the type of setting that they have. Wired connections can get pretty clumsy at times and needless to say, these can completely ruin the appearance and style of an area. The wireless connections on the other hand are hassle-free and simple to use but can prove to very expensive at times.
Home owners often complain of slow performance and black-outs that can be highly irritating at times. So it is wise to evaluate the options to match them with the available settings while also keeping the doors open for any changes in the future.

Benefits Of Having A Wired Connection

  • More secure as compared to a Wi-Fi connection, with no open threat from hackers

  • Safe from physical interceptions like reinforced walls, heavy metallic walls

  • Low latency, so good for real-time applications used by home owners like chatting, gaming etc.

  • No need for additional equipment like repeaters, signal boosters etc.

  • But despite the many benefits that a wired connection has, wireless networks are slowly gaining acceptance not only in the commercial segment but are also being preferred by many home owners around the world.

    Why Go For Wireless Connection?
  • Easy to set-up and modify

  • More opportunities for expanding the network in the future

  • Global standards of connection

  • Good for establishing a network over a wide area or some remote location

  • Easier to share

  • No need for home remodeling to fix or conceal the wires

  • Large number of access points to take care of interception related problems

  • Many electronic home entertainment and healthcare products in the market available with options for wireless connections

  • Wireless technology is growing by leaps and bounds so it looks very promising to set-up a wireless network at a fraction of the cost required for all the heavy wiring. It is especially good for home owners setting up a network for the first time as there are no additional costs to be incurred in the future.
