By: John Smith.. Home | Health-and-Fitness

Acid Reflux occurs when there is a problem with our gastric juices. It consists of a burning feeling in your chest, difficulties in breathing and problem when you lie down. You also get a burning feeling in the back of your throat. When my friend had it she thought she was having a heart attack. Luckily, it was not so bad as that and even more luckily there are many home remedies available to help.

Home remedies such as the normal everyday items which are found in your kitchen cupboards at home can help you stop the symptoms of the heartburn caused by acid reflux and also stop you developing the disease further. You may not even have the need to see your doctor.

Let us think about what causes acid reflux in the first place. In your stomach there is hydrochloric acid which helps you to digest your food. This is released every time you eat. If you add a very acidic diet on top of this, then you are adding more acid to this and it builds up until eventually there is nowhere for it to go but back up!

So you feel a burning sensation in your chest and then you can taste your stomach juices in the back of your throat. Wow, it is making me feel ill just thinking about it!

Our modern diets can have a little too much acid for our own good. The first step, if you have acid reflux is to look at what you are eating. If this is the first time you have had it, then maybe that meal you had last night might be to blame. If you have it on a regular basis then it might be a good idea to keep a food diary for a while to see where the acid has started to creep in. Acid occurs in some fruits and drinks. Some food can also be harder to digest, or if you eat more than normal, then more acid is produced in your stomach.

To stop these acidic conditions from developing further, you can take fruits such as figs. These also help with digestion quickly to get food through your stomach faster. Prunes can also do this. Drinking milk can also help to calm your stomach. There are many ways you can help yourself so don't suffer in silence!

There are many other items that can be incorporated into your normal menu routine that can provide long term relief on an ongoing basis. For most people, for instance, drinking apple cider vinegar to minimize the discomfort of acid reflux disease is not much different from taking a dose of medicine because it is considered to be unpleasant.

Fortunately many cases, even severe ones, of acid reflux disease can be minimized or totally eliminated simply by making sure to include routine common items into the daily diet. For innocence, there are actually served in types of apples that can be included in your ordinary diet and eating just a couple of slices at a time that are extremely effective in eliminating the pain and discomfort of acid reflux disease.
