Acne is one very frustrating condition to say the least. It not only mars the appearance when you are most conscious of it - at puberty through adolescence - but also often affects your self-esteem. However, the myths that surround such treatments often discourage people from taking advantage of these.

To make matters worse, acne is a very persistent condition that can be controlled but rarely completely cured. This is sometimes because the person in question looses hope before the treatment can offer results and takes up another cure or falls prey to home treatment for acne myths than create more trouble than help.

Some home treatment for acne myths you need to dispel
1. Acne is contagious - this is a very common myth for which youngsters try to avoid physical contact with those who develop acne. This belief is influenced from the spreading of warts, which are highly contagious. This is why teenagers do not like to adopt home treatment for acne thinking that instead of controlling them it would help in spreading them.

2. Acne disappears with the teens - this is another common myth that prevents people pay attention to the existing home treatment for acne that could manage the condition. The myth supports the belief that if left alone acne would just vanish as they erupted. The truth is that unless you take measures to control the oiliness of the skin and the bacteria growth, your condition would go from bad o worse.

3. Acne is the result of stress - this myth is not altogether a myth. It is partially true that stress produces chemical within your body that aggravates acne - this chemical is known as cortisol. However, acne if often more aggravated by the medicines you take for controlling stress than stress itself. Also, while concentrating on this aspect most people would ignore the fact that there are many home treatment for acne that could be of great help.

4. People suffering from acne should wash their face frequently - the truth is that this is exactly the opposite. The first thing that you would learn from your home treatment for acne bible is that you should not provoke the sebaceous glands to produce more oil than they already are. Washing the face frequently does just that. You need to avoid washing your face frequently. Instead, use oil balance soap and facial scrub to keep your face free from oil and dirt.

5. Medicines cure acne - there is no cure for acne. There are however many a home treatment for acne which is highly effective in controlling the condition, provided you are inclined to adopt any of the home treatment for acne available.
