Hormonal Acne Treatment

By: shawn parker Home | Health-and-Fitness | Beauty

Were you aware that there is a Hormonal Acne treatment? It's sad because there are so many acne sufferers out there that have spent so much time and alot of their hard earned money trying to treat acne with little or no results. It's downright frustrating when you can't solve your acne problems. The reason that acne persists is because they haven't found the root of the problem which may be hormonal.

Hormones are nothing more than chemical patterns that help regulate normal body functions which circulate throughout the bloodstream. Hormonal problems can occur at different times during your life. They are not only focused on the adolescent or teen years, they can also come about later in life such as menopause and pregnancy. What happens is increased levels of circulating Androgen hormones increase the oil production which only heightens the acne cycle.

There are several different hormones responsible for acne outbursts including, but not limited to Testosterone, Gonadotrophins, Anabolic Steroids, Coriticosteroids and Adrenocorticotrophic Hormone. Androgen, which normally occurs during puberty,

increases in the male sex hormones which forces ther glands to increase and make much more amounts of sebum. For the most part around the age of 11-14 you can expect the sebum-producing glands to start going into overdrive producing outbursts and flareups of acne. This is often reffered to as androgenic acne. Androgenic acne is mostly responsible for producing to much testosterone and not enough estrogen. Stress at this age also plays an enormous factor in these activities.

You may find several hormonal preparations which are mainly oral contraceptives which help suppress acne outbreaks. Women have the option of using a Hormonal Acne treatment such as Dianette. the good news is this treatment is only used for about 6 months once the acne has been removed from the skin. This is a very powerful contraceptive pill that helps block testosterone. Many people think of testosterone and generally categorize it to men. The truth of the matter is women produce testosterone just like men but not to the same degree.

We are lucky to be living in the time we are because of the advancements in science which allow us to treat Hormonal Acne in several different ways. A general prescription would comprise regular applications of topical antimicrobials like benzoyl peroxide and antibiotics. Another powerful solution is topical retinoids and anti-androgen medicine which often offers additional help.Oral birth control pills which are Estrogen inducing are also very helpful in combating Hormonal Acne.
