Horse Bets

By: Max Broad Home | Recreation-and-Sports

Nothing can be more relaxing than placing horse bets on a horse race. Not just the big races like the Kentucky Derby but the regular daily races at tracks across the country. There are two main types of horse racing, the trotters which have a driver in the sulky riding behind the horse. The races can be a trot where the horse's front right and back left move move forward and back together, and the front left and back right move forward and back together. In the same category of racing sometimes the race is called a pace, where the left side of the horse's legs work together as the right side works together. Horse bets are placed on both of these types of races.

Horse bets are also placed on the flats. Here the races have a jockey riding aboard each horse with handicaps given due to the weights of the jockey who is riding on the horse's back. Horse bets are placed on these races whether they are racing on turf or dirt. Both types are popular and give much enjoyment when the bettor places horse bets on the horse of his or her choice.

The horse bets placed on the races can be placed at the track at betting parlors or recently more and more horse bets are placed online. Obviously the horses that are favored will pay you back your original bet plus the lower odds given for the favorite. A long shot is a horse not expected to win and the horse bets are returned as your original bet plus e.g. 8:1 odds. $18 on a $2 bet will be your return. If you bet place or show, i.e. the horse can finish first or second, or first second or third, obviously your odd of winning increase therefore, your payback is lower.

Like in other sports there are exotic horse bets that can be placed easily online. They are bets like pefectas, trifectas and a whole host of varying types of bets. They are more difficult to win, you must pick the second place horse in some of these bets, or the top three finishers.

Horse bets placed responsibly is an exciting way to spend some spare time and have a chance to pick up some extra spending money. A good way to bet is to pick your races instead of betting on every single race. Sometimes just a hunch will earn you a little extra spending money.

Bet with your financial condition in mind and you will have a great time and a loss will not hurt you. Everything done in moderation is fine. Place your horse bets online and you will have a nice time in the realm of horse racing.
