Hospitality Fit For A King: The Delights In Store For The Next Ryder Cup

By: Dominic Donaldson Home |

Even if your knowledge of golf stretches only as far as a pitch and putt game you played once when you were knee high, the chances are you have at least heard of the Ryder Cup. Often considered the greatest golf tournament in the world, the famous match play tournament will be held for the first time in Wales in October 2010. The countdown is on and all those involved from catering hospitality staff to the pro-golfers are working hard to ensure it is an event to remember.

My own personal memories of golf include long Sunday afternoons hiking around a nine hole course behind my dad, brother and grandfather, proud to be part of the family day out. Soaking up the atmosphere as my family members cheered, frowned and frustratingly fished their golf balls out of the pond, I relished those afternoons as we 'bonded' over our common interest. As the years have gone by, I realise I am not alone in enjoying this aspect of the sport. Whether you are playing with a client or your boss or just some quality time with a family member, golf for many of us provides a few hours of escapism from life's day to day stresses.

Perhaps it's fair to say however that for the twenty four greatest players from Europe and the US who gather together every two years in the battle to win the legendary golf trophy, the game won't be quite so relaxing. The stakes are of course spectacularly higher as thousands of spectators and millions of TV viewers watch their every move. The talent of performing to this standard under such immense pressure is what places the twenty four entrants at the very top of their game. The 2010 tournament will take place over three days at the stunning Celtic Manor Resort, South Wales, where twenty four of Europe and the US greatest players will fight it out to win the legendary golf trophy. The emotion is raw, the competition fierce and the atmosphere electric.

After securing the bid to host the event, The Celtic Manor Resort's commitment to build a golf course to host the Ryder Cup has been successfully achieved to an incredible standard. By the completion of the project, The Celtic Manor Resort will have invested over sixteen million GBP in designing, developing and constructing the new course, a new clubhouse and associated infrastructure schemes. While tickets for the grand event don't go on sale until next year, the course and Ryder Cup hospitality preparations are in full swing.

Ryder Cup Hospitality meets the equally high standards of the course itself. Strategically placed TV screens, radios and an outdoor balcony means spectators need not worry about missing a minute of the action while dining or grabbing a refreshing beverage. The Conway Club at the 17th Fairway Restaurant caters for parties up to ten people in a shared restaurant facility. The Ryder Cup Hospitality packages on offer include, course and hospitality admission, breakfast buffet, three course lunch and fine wines, stunning views overlooking the course, afternoon tea, complementary bar, official Ryder cup programmes as well as VIP Parking and Park and Ride services.
For those with a slightly larger party, the Kidwelly Suites adjacent to the 16th fairway offer guests superb views of the demanding par four. The Ryder Cup Hospitality packages here cater for groups of 30 or 50 and include all the delights of the Conway Club including company signage outside your own private chalet, a complementary FM radio for each guest, for up to the minute coverage at your fingertips, a complementary match gift per guest per day, tickets to an official Ryder Cup Celebration and host passes.

Whether you are attending as an avid golf fan, a business trip or perhaps a celebration, the Ryder Cup Hospitality options cater for everyone, of all budgets and along with the striking new course and the stunning surroundings at the Celtic Manor Resort in Wales, spectators who are lucky enough to purchase a ticket to the event of the golfing calendar will be in for an unforgettable three days.
