How Do I Get Rid Of The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Smoking Cessation?

By: J.J. Yong Home | Self-Improvement | Motivational

Smokers who are undergoing the process of smoking cessation may experience some side effects on their bodies. These side effects are actually showing a positive sign in which they are heading back to a healthy state of body. These side effects are normally known as withdrawal symptoms. These particular symptoms are commonly experienced by those who are in the process of smoking rehabilitation.

What are the possible withdrawal symptoms?

The most common smoking withdrawal symptoms are the feelings of:

  • irritability

  • confusion

  • depression

  • extreme cravings for a cigarette

In fact, a smoker knows that these are very hard to interfere. Other common withdrawal symptoms that could possibly happen on them are:

  • increased appetite

  • weight gain

  • slower heartbeat

How does one handle smoking withdrawal symptoms?

There are several ways of handling these particular withdrawal symptoms. One of the stop smoking methods is having a nicotine replacement therapy. This type of therapy uses products such as nicotine patches and gums in which both aim to control the actual nicotine addiction of the body.

These products work slowly as it provides the body with low doses of nicotine while the smoker is in the process of adapting to a non-smoking lifestyle. In the whole process of smoking cessation, the use of nicotine replacements can be carried out during the first few days or weeks of quitting.

In order to quit smoking for good, controlling the withdrawal symptoms may not be as easy as it sounds. As an enhancement of this smoking program, it is most effective if family and friends give support to the smoker in his difficult task of breaking the smoking habit.
