How Do I Use Prepaid Phone Cards

By: Gen Wright Home | Computers-and-Technology

The prepaid phone cards have come to dominate the world of communication in such a way that there may be hardly a caller who has not used these cards ever to make a call. The use of prepaid phone cards for making domestic as well as international calls is more due to the convenience of not having to pay the monthly bills because once these cards are bought for a particular price after that the caller does not have to pay any extra cost except while buying a new card or while recharging the existing card.

A caller who wishes to understand the mechanism of operation of a prepaid phone card must know that the technology and subsequently the methodology employed for the use of such cards is totally different from the standard telephone service which one is normally habituated to use. All prepaid phone cards come with a PIN and the initials stand for Personal Identification Number which is incorporated in the card by the company as a security measure. This PIN is the unique feature of every phone card and it is through this PIN that a caller can check for available balance and call for assistance where as the operator can check on the balance of the card's calling time. In addition, it is the PIN which prevents the hacking of one's phone card by unauthorized users and provides protection to the caller in terms of monetary value. Therefore, on having decided to use prepaid phone cards, it is imperative for the caller to realize the importance of the PIN and the reason why it should always be protected.

In order to make full utilization of the prepaid phone card, the caller should be aware of all the features the card has to offer as well as the benefits due to which the particular card was chosen as compared to the other cards. A full report can be sought by making use of the FAQ section namely the frequently asked questions as many of the queries would either pertain or be similar to the doubts held by the caller. Some of the common doubts held by new users of prepaid cards are listed as follows:

- Can my prepaid card be used from a pay phone?
- How am I supposed to know the time remaining on my card?
- I would like to know how much I would be charged per minute and how much talk time is available on my card if I make long distance calls.

As to the first question, the prepaid card can be used at a pay phone and the instructions for use are provided at the back of every card. However, although using a prepaid card would be economical one should be prepared for the charge which would be levied if the card is used for making calls from the pay phone. The answer to the second question is provided every time the caller dials the PIN for making a call.

If the time is very close to running out then adequate warning is provided to the caller in form of beeps and verbal messages. The charge per minute is determined by the service provider from whom the card has been purchased and domestic calls are cheaper than international calls, which vary according to the country to which the call has been placed. Similarly, the connection fee also varies from one provider to another. Therefore, after having cleared all these doubts, one can use the prepaid phone card with confidence.
