How Much Sleep Is Good For Your Baby?

By: Jax Chapton Home | Home-and-Family | Babies-Toddlers

How much sleep does your child get? On average, your baby should sleep for at least 13 to 14 hours every day until 2 years. In the first two months, it is normal for the new-born to get 15 to 16 hours of sleep. Usually, babies sleep 2 -3 hours in daylight with one or two naps. Don’t worry if your baby sleeps for multiple hours during the day. Such a tendency is not uncommon during the first couple of months. Getting sufficient sleep is important; counting the number of hours is not. The sleep cycle very much depends on the body chemistry of a baby.

Sleeping problems

If your child falls asleep every time in the car, he is awake every morning or is a lot crankier than these can be the signs of sleep depreciation. The habit of your baby waking up at regular intervals at night can be traced to certain problems. These include complication during the delivery, history of stress and depression problems. Note that the baby was developed inside the embryo and therefore it might retain the characteristic of mother’s problems. This is not an issue to be concerned with. Just try to be extra patient. It will be very difficult but yours and your baby’s life depends on it. You do not want your baby suffer the same consequences.

Try not to associate with your baby too much during the bed time. It means you should not pick the baby in your lap the entire day because it will be difficult for them to go to sleep without your comfort. Try putting them in the bassinet while they are awake. It gets difficult for the babies to do transition from mother’s lap to the crib, without noticing it. Don’t be frustrated? It won’t help you, or your baby. Remember! A child cannot contemplate anything at such a young age. They are not to be blamed. They develop all the traits from their mother’s womb. A lot of patience on your part will help rectify a lot of problems.
