Introduction: Soy Protien Fibre The only plant protien fiber usable today is Soy Protien Fibre (SPF). Soy Protien Fibre (SPF) is made from soybean cake. When it is extracted, the rest is used as livestock feedstuff. Soybean Protein Fiber is a sustainable and natural textile fiber made from renewable and biodegradable organic resources - the leftover soybean mush from tofu and soymilk creation. Its 16 amino acids are nourishing and nutritional for our skin. It is a green/yellow textile fiber that possesses the superiorities of many pure and synthesized fibers. Benefits of Soy: Soybean fibre is a soft, light, and smooth protein fibre. It is smoother than cashmere and has the same moisture absorption as cotton but with a better moisture transmission, making it more comfortable on the skin. It is hydroscopic, air pervious, soft, smooth, dry and has better warmth retentivity that's comparable to wool. Synthetic fiber properties are almost identical to the properties of Soy Protien Fibers. Fabrics made from Soy Protien Fibers have the following features: Strength: Soybean Protien Fibre has a higher breaking force than wool, cotton and silk but less than polyester fibre. Shrinking: Soybean Protien Fiber does not shrivel when washed in boiling water. Bactericide: Soybean Protien Fiber has antibacterial properties. Easy care: Cloth made from Soybean Protien Fibre is easy to wash and dries speedily. It does not crinkle easily. Luster: Soybean Protien Fiber has the sheen of silk. Absorbency: Soybean Protien Fiber has the same moisture absorption qualities as cotton but transmits moisture better. Comfort: Fabric made from Soybean Protien Fibre is soft and smooth. It is also lightweight. When Soybean Protien Fibre is mixed with cotton, you get a very organic, natural fabric that is very gentle on the skin and has a very low carbon footprint. The Uppababy Vista stroller has a bassinet lined with a fabric made from Soybean Protien Fiber mixed with cotton. This is an ideal fabric for toddlers and is removable and washable. it will function very well while keeping moisture away from your baby's skin and it does not shrink. Obviously, as it does not shrink, re-fitting the liner to the bassinet is not a problem. By using "green" products such as Soybean Protien Fibres, we are doing our part in protecting the environment and in this case we actually get a superior product. By using "green" products such as Soybean Protien Fibres, we are doing our part in protecting the environment and in this case we actually get a superior product. The Soybean Protein Fibres are used by UPPAbaby today to make a fabric that is soft, absorbant, breathable, easily washed and environmentally friendly. No chemicals are used in its manufacture and there is much less likelihood of your babies skin having a reaction by coming into contact with the fabric. The fabric is easily removed from the UPPAbaby Vista Bassinet but it does require the use of a screwdriver. As the material does not shrink, it is easily re-fitted to the bassinet again when it is dry. The return to using natural fibres is a bold move by UPPAbaby but it has done its research and it is paying off. We all want to do our bit for the environment but not at too much extra cost. This ticks all the boxes.
